oh my oh my oh my oh my oh my oh my.

have i ever said i LOVED film noirs?

wait a minute.. you don't know what film noirs are?

oh my god you ignorant bastard.

by definition, a noir is

1. of or relating to the film noir genre.
2. a genre of crime literature featuring tough, cynical characters and bleak settings.
3. suggestive of danger or violence.

get the drift? no? ok how about some good examples with my all time favourite noir: max payne? max payne 2? sin city?

get the idea?

ok, good. now let me get on with my new noir obsession: Lucky #Slevin

pronounced 'lucky number sleven', the movie is not out yet in singapore, which makes you wonder how in the world i've come to know about it and even watched it. well well well thats up to your own imagination isn't it?

anyway this show opened at the sundance film festival in january, and was supposedly out in theatres april 7th, which kinda makes me wonder why hasn't it reached our god-damned shores yet.

anyway its a really good movie with a pretty engaging plot, with really, REALLY unexpected twists and turns, excellent directing and filming by paul mcguigan, and top notch dialogue between the characters.

not to mention a very very attractive lucy liu.

haha!

of course there's the very handsome josh hartnett, who starred in the also very wonderful movie 'wicker park', which incidentally was also directed by paul mcguigan (ok, from now on i'm gonna catch every single movie directed by this bloke; he's a genius!!!).

plus there's morgan freeman, and sir ben kingsley, and the ever-so-cool bruce willis.

wow. power pack combination!

Anyway, the plot of the show. i'm actually too lazy to write a summary of the show right now since its almost four in the morning, so i'm just gonna pick one off their official website www.slevin-movie.com so you will get a rough idea what the show's about and yet not be given any idea what the show's really about, bwahaha, sort of:

LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN is a thriller that
twists and turns its way through an
underworld of crime and revenge.

Set in New York City, a case of mistaken
identity lands Slevin (Josh Hartnett) into the
middle of a war being plotted by two of the
city's most rival crime bosses: The Rabbi
(Ben Kingsley) and The Boss (Morgan
Freeman). Slevin is under constant
surveillance by relentless Detective Brikowski
(Stanley Tucci) as well as the infamous
assassin Goodkat (Bruce Willis) and finds
himself having to hatch his own ingenious
plot to get them... before they get him.

yeap, that's the gist of the show. at least, that's what it seems to be like for the first two thirds of the show.

haha i think i'm letting too much of the cat out of the bag. if you wanna preview the show you can go over to their website to check out the trailer and also the first 8 minutes of the show. hmmmzz

just wanna say one more thing though, i learned a new term with the show, its called the kansas city shuffle. haha. check it out on wikipedia if you wanna know what it means, i'm too tired to explain! don't look left when you should be looking right!

better stop here. if you see the movie coming out in theatres, go and catch it! you will not regret it and you might just become another noir fan.
